--A bold witness to God's love!

Gay & Christian?

Since 1984, Wesley has welcomed lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersexed, and questioning persons into the full life and ministry of our congregation.  In our wider United Methodist connection, we have declared ourselves to be a "Reconciling Congregation."  (Learn more about Reconciling Congregations
here.)    We offer a wide variety of spiritual and fellowship opportunites for LGBTIQ persons and their allies including: Wesley Celebration, Wesley Pride, and Reconciling Ministiries.

 Resources for LGBTIQ Christians

Christians who are just coming out as LGBTIQ, either to themselves or to family members often need help finding some resources.  Here are some links and other resources:
  • Parents & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) offers support to family members of LGBTQI persons and LGBTQI persons who are coming out.  The Fresno PFLAG chapter meets at Wesley on the second Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m.  Email Wesley members Jerry & Kathy Ward or call the PFLAG info line (434-6540) for more information.
  • Lesbian and gay parented families often need a place to connect with similar families.  Several families at Wesley are connected to Kids Like Us (KLU), a local organization that plans a monthly family-fun event for L/G headed families.  Many of the children are elementary school or younger, but some are teens.  Contact Wesley member Robin McGehee for more info.
